Three weeks to go

A neat letter box!

Well time is running out for this season in Nelson. The weather continues to be stunning, although the procession of anticyclones seems to be ending and there was rain last night. In the past week we have been involved in more work with schools. The local High schools are using the club to give their pupils sailing experience. This is very interesting when larger children get caught on the wrong side of a small training boat. Lorna and I also took two model yachts out to Brooklyn School, about 5 kilometres west of Motueka. Some 60 odd children had the chance to sail a model round the school swimming pool.
On Sunday Lorna joined in the adult learn to sail course. We organised for the participants to have a ride in a Flying Dutchman, and a laser II. Loran managed to capsize one of the Sunbursts and had to be rescued. Luckily the day and water were very warm. Arrangements are proceeding for next season so it is pretty well confirmed that I will be returning to Nelson Yacht Club as the resident coach.
This weekend we are taking a bunch of sailors to the South Island Optimist Championships at Picton. This will be the first away regatta for many of our young sailors so there is much excitement in the ranks. The trip to Venice is also proceeding. Lorna thinks she might come as well to make up the numbers for a group booking.

Bugger! We were hoping Grandma (Lorna)would stay with us and spend time with Zoe! Although if I had to chose between time with Zoe and a trip to Venice I would pack my bags! :) (it would just be a short trip)Good news if you do get to go Lorna lots of yummy gelati to eat there. Erin
